How to Choose Printing Paper? Learn These Tips to Make Your Printing Smoother!

As the saying goes, a good horse needs a good saddle, and a printer needs good paper to produce good results. Using inferior paper not only results in poor print quality but can also easily cause paper jams or even equipment malfunctions.

So how do you choose good paper? The main considerations are weight, manufacturing process, color, pH level, and whether it's single-sided or double-sided printing.

Paper Weight: Not less than 60 grams, preferably more than 70 grams.

First, let's start with the paper weight. Slightly heavier paper is of better quality (not too heavy or too thick), less prone to wrinkling, and less likely to jam during printing. Therefore, choose paper of moderate thickness and good flatness to avoid wrinkling. Generally, paper around 60-70 grams is suitable.

Paper Craftsmanship: Smooth, moderately thin.

The paper's craftsmanship is also very important. How do you judge the paper? Simply touch the surface. Paper that is too smooth or too rough is not conducive to ink adhesion, which will greatly affect the final print quality. Additionally, hold the paper up to the light and observe whether the paper thickness is uniform. If the light transmission is uniform, it indicates good paper thickness and manufacturing process.

Observe the color: Normal white.

The whiter the paper, the better. If the paper is too white or too blue, it may contain a large amount of fluorescent agents or bleaching powder, which is not conducive to normal reading. The color of the paper should be pleasing to the eye; otherwise, it may cause some strain on the eyes.

pH value: Neutral paper is best.

Copier paper is divided into neutral paper and acidic paper according to its pH value. Acidic paper is usually a mixture of wood pulp and straw pulp. This type of printing paper easily attracts dust and is prone to discoloration over time, so it is not suitable for long-term storage. Neutral paper, on the other hand, is made of pure wood pulp, with long fibers, good adhesion, and is not prone to dust accumulation. It is generally recommended to use neutral paper for printing.

Single-sided and double-sided: Choose double-sided adhesive paper for both sides.

If you need to print double-sided daily, you need to choose offset paper to ensure the quality of each side.
